We are meant to make a 3D point and click game, based off of two words. There are four roles in our group; The Game Designer, The Concept Artist, Environment Artist and Character Artist.
My role is the Environment artist and my part in making this game is to build the level. I construct and texture the game world, make sure to have no environmental bugs and to light the game. We were made to pick to words at random which would produce the theme of our game. Our words are;
Library and Hip-Hop
Our teams Games Designer produced a Moldboard that could help with mapping out the level layout for me.
Looking at what the outside would look like, showing the use of the kind of the colour that we want.

I started with basics of what we needed and created simple layouts of the levels.
These are quick sketches that are of what the area may look like. Also a reference for the lay out of the area, for our concept artist.

at this stage we had a simple concpet for our game calling it wolf.
One sheet;

What we all moved onto next was the object placement. So I and Our Game designer created a paper layout of our first game stage.

Not much goes on on the out side for our story.

the objects in each area that we have some are useless and others are needed as they give clues as to what is going on. Each floor has two key objects that must be found. and if those items are not found on the level then the player could not progress. (this idea was brought up by our game designer).

Quick GreyBox of the the out side of the level.

In the process of making the grey-box version of the games levels the third floor;

I have given different viewpoints as to show a wider viewpoints. (Could help figure out the camera angles). this only a simple stage at the moment.
At this stage our group had come up with a clear concpet as to what our story line is;
Rosa was joining Wolf (a Hip-Hop artist) at a book signing for his new book, all of a sudden lights go out and instantly turn back on. after a bunch of noise people notice that Wolf is no longer there. As there was chaos going on Rosa gets knocked out and wakes up to a completely empty building, even the outside quiet. she notices that Wolf has left clues behind to get her to follow. With each clue that he leaves she begins to question the people that she knows and who she can trust.
The next stage is making the models that go into the environment.

These are the objects i made for our groups game. With the style of our game i went the most simplistic look. keeping details low so that the use of repetition wont affect the final poly-count for the game environment which is 100,000 Poly limit.
the images below are the level.
i had to change the buildings to have windows in them. so that we can get the right lighting effect and my game designer wanted me to add them in.

this is the top of the level and the view point where Rosa knows where to go.

Next was creating textures for the game and placing them in.
As I am running behind on my work, I had to make clear focuses on what i needed to texture. Bookshelves, books, books for the shelves. most of the other objects could be coloured in the unity engine. As later our teen can add an effect in unity that gives everything its black out line.
Versions of the same book Modeled in Maya but with different textures.
Next stage would be to add lighting;
