Elf and Dwarf

The work that we had to produce today relating to proportions, we had to draw an elf and dwarf to show the difference in the height. As and elf is generally seemed to taller that an human if only just. while a dwarf would be around four heads tall.

I kept them simple for now only as to look at the height proportions as this was the task set for us. i focused more on getting the bodies correct before starting on the actual design of them.

Clothes are the next step but i only want to suggest this more as this not the main focus of the project. I need to gain more skills in producing a quick sketch as i am lacking in this so far.

Gas Pump

This weeks homework is to follow a tutorial on creating a gas pump.
The first step is to create the base shape to use to create the gas pump.
This is to gain the size of the object and create a halfway pain to get the perspective of where everything should be placed.

Creating the pump was next the style were following in more of a vintage look. Simple and rounded and two faces of the model were indented to make the area where the number for a gas pump go.

Adding uv's and texturing the model are what seem the hardest for me at this stage of the course. I also get certain areas that were it seems I have extruded to many times and have to retrace my steps to understand where I have gone wrong.

Sketches

These are some works that have no relation to the course but are just free sketches.
Some my be unfinished;

Life Drawings

 These drawings are all life drawings and are my own works.
The images that are put up here are don't shown in order of them being produced.

Insect humanoid

For this project I have to create a humanoid insect, I wanted to create an more elegant style for this project. Having more fluid and loose areas but with the aspect of strong stable aspects.

I looked at fashion as well to make a link to a woman's look. I want to keep that aspect of the woman and what she really needs to look elegant but empowering.

i looked at the shapes that the insects had as well as clothing as to apply the shapes of both to make the insect have clothes to give it a more human aspect.

i stared off with a Luna moth and applied a praying mantis. i also tried other insects such as beetles and stick insects.

i gave it wings as to add a the dragon fly to give it a more faerie look, and elegant look.

the final design has a elegant aspect and is combined with;

Praying Mantis
Luna Moth
Stick insect
and a Fly

Unity Project Elem-Tails

The first lesson that we have towards learning Unity we had to make a one sheet. This had to show our ideas clearly for the project. i want to start this idea off as a simple basic construct, i wanted to have a more generic idea. The game concept would be a simple a turn based fighting style with a strategy element. Four main characters to have a variety in attack styles, sub characters to create a story and to see the world start off with a simple basic look.

rough plans

these are my rough plans for making the one sheet and helping me script the first level of the game.
i encountered a problem when making the design for the game, the level are did not seem interesting enough for the story. it would just be the basic start off for the game and i needed to have more to do to make the game-play more involved.

 the map of the level and basic story are shown above and what should be in the level.

I stared off with a over level but with limited knowledge of scripting i don't really know how to telaport the character. that i would have to leave for another time. So I made the second part of the level to show what the full intention of the area.

The second half of the level consists of a maze where four keys would have to be found and open four doors. these doors would be colour coded as well as the keys.

I wanted the keys to admit light as they need to the character drawn to them. The process that the keys should be found are earth, fire, water then air.

I did encounter a problem when making the key i didn't know how to turn the light and particle functions off. this was that i was thinking that the light source was far more complex then it actually was. i wasn't thinking that the light and particles were attached to the the object.

i needed a final end product to the level and gaining the weapon seems to be the best choice. i didn't make the level in Maya as at this stage all i needed was the level and basic structure to see if what i planed worked.

i created one of the Tonfa and duplicated it. this will be placed in the center of the final room which will be accessed last with a key. as the main character of the story is the character that represents air. that is the last door that can be opened.

Happy Halloween Monster Project

This project we had to focus on the good spirit of Halloween, that means Monsters.
i started off looking at daemons and as i spent more time looking for images to influence me, i took the aspects of the horns on some of them. i didn't want to do just a daemon with a generic look; large, mussels, horns and overbearingly strong. i wanted to add more to it such things as myths, mummies, animal like and so on.

A just stared doodling creating random creatures, one partially wrapped up took my interest i thought of a half mummy. i combined it with Medusa and horns as to create a more complex character. i thought of instead of snakes or hair that the horns would add a more elegant design.

i stared off by sketching random things that seemed relevant to my research. skulls are what i focused on at first then i moved onto horns. my main influences were the horns, and as i progressed i though about combining it with monsters that go with Halloween, mummies, zombies, werewolves. then by thinking about mythical beings i thought of Medusa and her snake like body.

the final design;

antelope horns, mummy body, snake body for legs, has a floating eye that she sees with.

Speed Painting

We were given an image to try and copy within a certain time limit.

the image we were given was two girls in a apple orchard, one girl picking apples while the other looked out. The surroundings were trees, mountains and a fence. Also takes place at night.

To start off i created a solid background, choosing the colour closest to the image by eye.

Next i chose a darker blue for the mountains then a lighter one to create the highlights.

i only blocked out where the trees were at this stage it was best to gain a sense of where everything goes. A dark green for the base and a light green for highlights.

The fence was next heading into the foreground. Using a brown for the fence its self but the highlights were a light blue used in the mountains.

the tree in the foreground was next only using limited use of colours.

adding the apples of the tree in the foreground was next. The apples more towards the center were to give the placement of the first girl.

I used the placement of the apples to figure out where the first girl is placed and tried to get the colours of the girl for the image i was given as close as i could by eye. i also placed some of the highlights using the light blue again.

adding the other girl was easy after placing the first girl. i highlighted both in better detail after the second girl.

the last stage was the moon as to get a sense of where the light was coming from. using a pale blue to get the colour.

withing the time limit this was all that i was able to create.
